Lasercut Plywood, RGB LEDs, Arduino, Accelerometer
The most current iteration of the Light Hammer, the Mk3.2 houses a number of electronics that allow for a variety of complex interactions on the part of the user. This includes creating multicolor images (via the RGB LEDs), varied brightness based on the speed of the hammer’s swing (via accelerometer), and DSLR shutter control (via Arduino). Advances in the Light Hammer, combined with the transition to photosensor-based image creation, allowed for the LightSmithing process to become mobile, opening up a wide array of creative and exhibition opportunities.
